Postcards

During the period after the liberation of the Ionian coastline (West Minor Asia) by the Greek Army, the city of Smyrna as well as all the other Greek cities and villages situated seaside, started to develop rapidly. The air of freedom and the opening of the ports to the free world triggered an unprecedented progress in almost every sector of the local economy. The economic welfare of the local population replaced the hundreds of years of economic depression and decline not to mention the oppression and the massacres of the non-Muslim people which had occurred during the past decade. Consequently, Tourism also earned a big share of the financial investments which were given that time for the peaceful progress of Anatolia. The Ancient Hellenic cities of Ephesos, Pergamos, Allikarnasos, etc, together with the beauty of the Ionian landscape itself, started to attract more and more people. Part of this worldwide touristic campaign were the Postcards designed and photocopied by the world's biggest travel agencies of that golden time...
